Letter Two: She is in 'complete sympathy' with Humberstone's resolution, and would have wanted to second it, 'but I dare not undertake to do so', due to a clash of engagements. Humberstone 'had better make sure of a more reliable seconder'.

12mo, xi + [vi] + 46 pp. Stitched as issued, in original marbled-paper wraps. Good, on lightly-aged paper. The title leaf is followed by a nine-page preface, taking the pagination to p.xi. The page following p.xi (on the verso of the leaf) is blank, and this is followed by three unpaginated leaves carrying a six-page 'Act of Parliament in Favours [sic] of the Maiden Hospital, Founded by the Company of Merchants and Mary Erskine.' This 'Act', which precedes the 46 pages of the 'Rules and Constitutions', would not appear to be present in all copies.

The examination papers, covering fields including Latin, Greek and French; scripture; ancient and modern history; mathematics, chemistry and chemistry, cover 31 pp, and are of more than enough difficulty to support those claiming a decline in British educational standards. Also present are lists of the school's governors and masters, and of prize scholarship winners, with the last page giving the subject's for the following years prizes.

Two pieces of Harrow ephemera: the first a handbill headed 'Harrow School. June, 1866. Entrance Scholarships.'; the second a handbill headed 'Form to be used at the Commemoration of the Founder of Harrow School.'
