Both items in good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Both 2pp., 12mo, on bifoliums. ONE: 6 January 1902. Attempting to rearrange an appointment from morning to afternoon, and giving news of a lost penknife. TWO: 20 February 1902. With Richards's dated receipt stamp. Requesting that a copy of his book 'Liberalism' be sent to 'C. P. Lucas, Esq., Colonial Office, Whitehall'. 'The other copies are ready to be fetched away, and in the parcel I have included a further list of papers for review copies.' He notes that he has had 'personal dealings in one way or other' with most of the newspapers he suggests. Letter ends: 'I start for Uganda this morning.' In 1902 Richards published 'Liberalism. An attempt to state the principles and proposals of contemporary liberalism in England', with an introduction by the future prime minister H. H. Asquith
