The four engravings are arranged in two rows (the first two parts on the top row and the last two parts on the bottom row) on a sheet of 27 x 38 cm wove paper. Each engraving is 12 x 16 cm, within a light-blue frame, with the 'The Dancing Lesson - Pt. 1 [4]' beneath the image, and the subtitle above. Publisher's details in bottom right-hand corner, and Cruikshank's details at bottom left. (The first part has Cruikshank's monogram and 'Etchd by G Cruikk.', and the other three parts have 'G Cruikshank fect'.

1p., 4to. In fair condition, lightly aged and creased, with damage to two corners from removal from mount. Attractively printed in a restrained style, it gives the prices of proofs and prints, and boasts that 'The Picture, from which it is intended to take the present Engraving, has the reputation of being a STRIKING LIKENESS of the Poet, as he appeared in 1822, and is the last of any note or which he sat. It was moreover the favourite picture of his Lordship, as may be seen by the accompanying Fac-simile [not present] of one of his Lordship's Letters to Mr.

On leaf of 4to paper. In fair condition, aged and lightly-creased. The purpose of the illustration is unclear, although it may be a proof or letterhead. The attractive engraving is in black ink, and 7 x 20cm. It shows two flagpoles, with a tightrope between them and apparatus to the right and left. Beneath the illustration are fourteen lines of text in two columns, under the head, 'Explanations', the left-hand column reading: 'From A to B, 600 English feet. | From C to D, 420 English feet. | From Mast to Mast, 300 English feet. | From E to F, 100 English feet.

[Lumb Stocks RA.] 125 prints from his collection, by eminent London engravers (including the Findens, Heath, Cousen), mostly engravers' proofs on India paper, many before the letters, including presentations, and eighteen from J. M. W. Turner.

Enclosed more by accident than design: George Sims' Compliments slip, 11.5 x 7.5, light blue, edges browned, featuring a design by Eric Gill (whose archive Sims rescued) of an athleticllly poised swordsman. Sims has typed on the verso, "for the Rota Foundation - this good piece of printing - these [the Gill engraving presumably] passed through my hands 25 years ago!".

The four plates (each 29 x 23.5 cm) are loose and unframed, in fair condition, aged and worn, with no margins, chipping to the edges, and with the corners cut off at a diagonal. Each title written in pencil in a contemporary hand on the reverse of the print, each with a price of '6d'. The subjects are not depicted in unattractive style, and are certainly not grotesques, but they are shown as 'simple', untroubled individuals, with the usual happy, gleaming brown faces and shiny white teeth.

In good condition, on lightly-aged paper, tipped in onto a grey paper mount. Engraved on 13 x 8 cm piece of wove paper, with no margin. The firm's shop was at the sign of Horace's head in the Strand, and the engraving depicts a lapidary carving off the head and shoulders of the poet, with laurel leaf above, in an oval frame, around which are 'carved' decorations (including lyre and grapes).

[Lewis Wyatt, architect.] Autograph Letter Signed ('Lew. Wyatt') to 'H. Neale Esqr.' [in fact the architectural draughtsman John Preston Neale], praising his 'Seats of the Nobility' and offering information on 'Lord Foresters House'.

On one side of a piece of paper, roughly 28 x 21.5 cm. On aged and worn paper. The engraving, roughly 11 x 13 cm, placed at the head of the page, is a head and shoulders portrait of Hampe, depicted in an oval frame, with inscription in Greek wound round a staff with snake (recalling the rod of Asclepius) and laurel sprig. Kauffmann's name engraved at bottom left and Burke's at bottom right. Beneath the engraving is a 27-line inscription beginning: “IOHANNES HENRICVS HAMPE | SIEGENA-NASSOVICVS | MEDICINAE DOCTOR DVISBVRGENSIS CLIVORVM'.

On one side of a piece of 15 x 17 cm paper. In good condition, on lightly aged and creased paper. The illustration is roughly 10.5 x 16 cm, and shows a bearded oriental warrior, with plumed headpiece, spear and knife in belt, leading an oversized horse. The disproportionate nature of the composition suggests that the male figure was added to the existing illustration of the horse.

The 40 items range in size from 25 x 19cm to 5 x 4.5cm. All in good condition, lightly-aged, and all but five laid down on the grey paper leaves of a heavily-worn album, with back cover loose, and with ownership signature of Sir Michael's wife Elisabeth Clapham at head of first page. The couple married in 1935, and one of the 40 items is a card with text in red featuring Elisabeth's maiden name. It conveys 'Good wishes for Christmas & the New Year from Elisabeth Rea | 6 Barton Street, S.W.1'.

Each item is 1p., 12mo, the note being the last of the three. All written in green ink, the first on green paper, and the other two on pink paper. The three in very good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Written in an attractive, calligraphic hand. ONE: She writes that she is enclosing 'four rough designs [not present] for the woodcut frontispiece to the "Glade [sic] of Glenbella', and asks to be informed by return of the firm's choice, and she will 'get on with it at once'. She ends with a query about galley sheets. TWO: Docketted with brief pencil accounts.
