The thirteen Capricornus items on COPAC indicate that the press was connected with K. M. Briggs, or at least with her family, who had moved to Perthshire with their father in 1911. Uncommon. Copac lists sets of the three volumes in the series at the British Library, National Library of Scotland and Oxford, and a single copy of this number at the National Library of Wales. Copies listed only at Trinity Dublin and Toronto.

The album is landscape, 13 x 19 cm. Internally clean on lightly-aged paper, stapled into worn and spotted printed covers. It contains 26 photographs (10 full-page and 16 half-page), on 18 leaves separated by tissue guards, a mixture of indoor and outdoor scenes, and some posed. Images include: 'Les Mariages de Plougastel-Daoulas. - Le Défile des Mariés'; 'La Gavotte Bretonne'; 'DOUARNENEZ. - Toilette de la Mariée'; Arrivée du Cortege au Bourg'; 'Le Repas de Noces.

Booklet, 42pp. (with 4pp. catalogue), 12mo, dec. papers wraps, sl. grubby and stained, contents good. COPAC and WorldCat appear only to list a microform of the First Ediiton (dated after 1881 by internal evidence).

19pp., paper covers, illus with photo of the President, good condition. Surveys history, economics, exports, British Trade, Wines of Chile, etc. No copies of COPAC, 7 on WorldCat (6 American, one French).

24pp., cr. 8vo, grey printed paper wraps, partially detached, creased and and worn, with two stains on front cover, largest 3/4"dia, contents aged but good. Tow copies listed on COPAC/WorldCat (both BL), i.e. very scarce.

"A paper read before a meeting in London of the Associated Booksellers of Great Britain and Ireland, April 1895." 28pp., 8vo, stiff paper covers, covers, inside cover and ep foxed, contents mainly good but some small closed tears. Front cover inscribed, "Wm. H." (written by Bangs?) and with the stamp of former owner, Chairman of Heinemanns, C.A. Bang. This copy also contains Bangs' card, and, inside front cover, autograph notes by Bangs, and signed by him, as follows: Wm H born 18th May 1863. | started publishing Jan 1890.| wrote this paper 32 years of age | died 5th Oct.

Sub-title, "An Address by Basil Blackwell Patiently heard by The Society of Bookmen on April 9th 1934, and now Privately Printed for presentation to certain of his friends." 14pp., beige paper wraps, sl. sunned, mainly good condition. Basil Blackwell has personalised the opening letter explaining the publication, writing the name "Young" after "Dear" and adding his signature at the end. Only one copy listed on COPAC, at Cambridge.

312pp., large 8vo. In publisher's green cloth binding, gilt. Internally good, sound and tight on lightly-aged paper; in worn binding. Each volume carries two pages of advertisements, with more in text. The earliest issue is typical, with articles on such subjects as reincarnation; prophecy; occult timepieces; occult uses of colours (by Professor G. R. Nile). An advertisement on p.2 of the earliest issue gives the magazine's view of itself: 'THE STAR OF THE MAGI IS THE LEADING OCCULT JOURNAL OF THE WORLD. A year's trial will convince you of this.

26pp., 12mo, paginated [527]-552. Unbound and stapled. In good condition, on lightly-aged paper, with rusted staples and punch-hole in top left-hand corner. Scarce: no copies traced on either COPAC or WorldCat.

The two uniform stapled pamphlets, both 32pp., 12mo, in illustrated wraps printed in green, and both printed on newsprint. Both items uncommon, with no copies of either on COPAC. ONE: 'Irish Songs Old and New.' In fair condition, on worn and toned paper, with crease to front cover. Contains the lyrics to 34 songs, from 'Angels Whisper' and 'Ballinamona Oro' to 'Young Kate of Kilcummer'. TWO: 'Songs of the Gael'. In good condition, toned and lightly worn. Contains the lyrics of 28 songs from 'Awake and Lie Dreaming No More' to 'Where is the Slave so Lowly?'

Both works first editions, and both in good condition, on aged paper. Bound together in late nineteenth-century red cloth half-binding, with marbled boards. Title on spine: 'COLLIER CONTROVERSY | H.R.H. | 1919'. Hamilton title in full: 'An Inquiry into the Genuineness of the Manuscript Corrections in Mr. J. Payne Collier's Annotated Shakspere, Folio, 1632; and of certain Shaksperian Documents likewise published by Mr. Collier'. [4] + 155pp., 4to. The item has been disbound from a volume, and the title leaf is longer than the rest, in order to retain the ownership inscription in the top left-hand corner of the title-page, which carries a signed presentation inscription from Magnin to his colleague Frantz Glénard. The title leaf is creased and has a long vertical closed tear near the spine, which has been unobtrusively repaired with archival tape. Pp.53/54 and 61/62 have had text trimmed away by the binder.

34 + [1]pp., 12mo. In fair condition, on aged paper, a little ruckled. Advertisement for 'Jan Cladpole's Trip to Merricur' ('Just published') on last page. A three-page preface is followed by the poem, in 152 four-line stanzas, with pp.33-34 carrying another poem titled 'Tom Cladpole's Return'. Surprisingly uncommon.

The inside cover and 24 of the last 25pp. are filled with advertisements, many of them illustrated. The volume begins with a 21-page description of 'The State of Florida' from 'Jacksonville (Duval County)' to 'Lake Monroe', with illustrationss of various views. It is followed by two pages by 'W. B. Watson, Manager' and 'C. B. Fenwick, Central Pass. Agent', headed 'A First Class Line'; a page of 'Distances to Landings on St. Johns River'; and a two-page 'Hotel List'.

Letter: 1p., 12mo. In fair condition, foxed at head. He informs them that the article was on Dr Johnson's house, and will be published in the magazine's 'Autumn Number', writing: 'If I send you the proofs would one of you care to write a few appreciative words on Lord H? I shall add a short biography culled from The Times'. In an autograph postscript he requests 'an old wood-block or a stone-litho which I could reproduce in O. L. of Johnson's House'. Blocks of text have been cut out by Lucas, between pp.205 and 232, and the three leaves carrying pp.199-204 have been removed. Otherwise in good condition, in worn burgundy cloth binding, gilt. Lucas has written 'With corrections for Second Edition' at the head of the title page. (There was no second edition.) Emendations throughout in pencil and pen.

[xiv], 207pp., dark green cloth, corners bumped, mainly good to very good. A copy inscribed by Matthew Arnold to Lady Dorothy Neville, 'writer, hostess, horticulturist and plant collector', with a letter by Arnold concerning his gift of the book tipped in. Also with prined "From the Author" note enclosed (loose), a printed bookplate alleging "Stolen from Lady Dorothy Neville", and a newspaper clipping concerning Matthew Arnold's burial place tipped in. The letter from Arnold reads as follows: "Dear Lady Dorothy | The Fourth Party are excellent company, but Sunday is impossible for me.

Letter: 2pp., 8vo. In very good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Addressing his letter to 'Dear Sir Albert', Petingale thanks Richardson for his letter 'arising out of your visit to the Ealing Arts and Crafts Exhibition', which has encouraged Petingale to send him 'the latest number of "Miscellany", which is the contribution of the Literature Group to the Ealing Arts Club, and which my wife and myself have been editing for the last nine years'. He discusses a visit to Holy Cross Church, designed by Richardson.

59pp., 12mo. Stitched. Front wrap present, with the title printed within an ornate border on yellow paper, and the price given as sixpence. In fair condition, on aged paper, with dog-eared corner and slight loss at foot of the worn front wrap. Two ownership inscriptions: 'David Davies his Book' on the inside wrap, and 'David Davies his Book | 1852 | Tynyfawnay Llanfair | Montgomeryshire'.

200pp., 12mo, paginated xii + [108] + 57 + [3]. Publisher's advertisements on both sides of last leaf. In original calf binding. Internally sound and in good condition, on aged paper; the binding heavily worn, with only the traces of the marbled endpapers remaining, and the leather flap to the front wallet detached and loosely inserted. Modern pencil inscription on fly-leaf - '132-1939 (131) | Presented by Mrs Mary Greene Bray' - otherwise no indication of provenance.

28pp., 8vo, unopened, paper wraps with damaged cellophane cover (some loss), damage to top of spine,mainly good condition. Dedicated to Philip Ivanoff and the the Shareholders of Thracian Mineral Products Ltd: "One day an alchemist walked o'er the land [...]" No other copy recorded.

Programme, [20]pp., 4to, illus. printed wraps (partly in red). Directed by David Thacker, including excerpts from "The Golden Years", "Focus", "Death of a Salesman", Miller's adaptation of "An Enemy of the People", etc., etc. Programme signed by Arthur Miller himself ("For Esther | Arthur MIller). Enclosed Menu for dinner on 14 May 1989 at the Arthur Miller Centre for American Studies, signed "Warren Mitchell". This item derives from the Papers of Sally Worboyes who organised writing courses involving well-know TV personnel, actors, singers and writers as tutors at Fen Farm nr.
