Printed in double column on both sides of a wove piece of paper, 44 x 28.5 cm. Clear and complete. Very good, on slightly-aged and grubby paper. In a variety of types and font sizes, but mostly in small print. The whole clearly laid out for folding as a packet. Includes a description of Dorrington's business, in which he boasts that his is 'The Cheapest Establishment in London for Wood Engravings', supplying 'Lithography in all its branches, At lower charges than by any other Artist'. Begins by putting forward a 'proposition for commencing with the new year an Illustrated Work of sterling value, which could not fail to become highly popular in your locality, as well as profitable to yourself'. Gives details and terms of this 'MONTHLY PICTORIAL MAGAZINE, To be ready on the 20th of December, for January 1, 1858.' Includes the comment: 'It need scarcely be observed that my name would not appear as Printer or Publisher, neither should I supply more than one person in a town' nor should I issue the Magazine in any shape to the London Bookselling Trade, Wholesale or Retail - my object being to supply these Illustrated Sheets SOLELY to Country Printers and Booksellers'. There follows a similar description of 'AN ILLUSTRATED MONTHLY SHEET, 4, 6, or 8 printed pages, ready for delivery by the 28th of each month.' The reverse includes details of sixteen sets of 'New & Interesting Designs for TEA PAPER PRINTING, COPY COVERS, &c.' (GEORGE DORRINGTON respectuflly submits his NOVEL and SUPERIOR ILLUSTRATIONS of popular subjects for Grocers' Printing, Copy Covers, &c. The Engravings are all New, designed for this especial purpose, and accompanied with appropirate Letter-press description.' Also eight 'STEREOTYPED PICTURE ALMANACKS FOR 1858.'
